<p>If Muddy were asked to design our dream romantic hotel, this Italian bolthole would probably be the result. Perched on a cliff in Positano with sweeping views of the Amalfi Coast, everything about this lovely villa is dazzling from its Aveda spa to the pool terrace with lemon trees and bedrooms with huge beds swathed in Frette linen. Don’t miss a glass of something bubbly at rooftop bar Franco’s at sunset before a seafood supper at Michelin-Starred La Sponda.&nbsp;Sigh. </p>

<p>If the white suites and private terraces with plunge pools and loungers overlooking the famous Caldera don&#8217;t make you swoon, then the infinity pool, cliffside restaurant overlooking the ocean and spa will. About as close as you can get to a honeymoon vibe in a weekend. </p>

<p>More of a maximalist than a minimalist? Then you&#8217;re  you&#8217;re going to adore this former 18th-Century palace set on a mountainside in Sintra, around 45 minutes&#8217; drive from Lisbon. It&#8217;s all so extra, from the four-poster beds and hand-painted fresco walls to the gardens housing a tennis court, box maze, outdoor pool and terrace. Enjoy a couples&#8217; massage side by side in the Anantara Seteais Spa and take advantage of the hotel&#8217;s &#8216;romantic experiences&#8217;, including a private picnic tucked away in the gardens.</p>

<p>It’s impossible not to fall in love with this hotel (or each other) after spending time in one of the 12 stunning suites furnished with fireplaces, books, chaise lounges and sheepskin throws. Breakfast, served in the walled garden (or in bed), is the best in the city and don’t get us started on the complimentary cakes in the drawing room. Utterly delightful in every way.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There&#8217;s much to rave about at this Valletta-based escape formed of four historic townhouses. Muddy’s checked in before and can confirm its candle-lit Michelin-starred rooftop restaurant ION Harbour is a spectacularly romantic setting, while the bedrooms are super sexy, particularly the new couples’ spa suite with a private entrance to Essensi Spa. Relax, rewind, romance.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Eight years in the making, the hottest new hotel in Paris finally launched last year and it&#8217;s trés sophisticated. Based in the iconic 19th-Century former Louvre post office building, it&#8217;s great for lovers who are also food-lovers, with Japanese-influenced cuisine in the hotel’s fancy restaurant, Mediterranean nosh in Madame Rêve Café and bubbly and bites at top floor oasis, ROOF (a great spot to catch sunset). For the ultimate romance pad, book a star suite for amazing views of the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Coeur or Notre-Dame Cathedral.</p>
