<p>Heading north from Southampton, this is the kind of journey where the scenery does most of the talking. It begins along Ireland’s County Donegal, then across to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides – all windswept coastlines, big skies and that pleasingly remote, end-of-the-world feel – before crossing to Iceland, where stops like Seyðisfjörður and Akureyri bring colourful fjord towns, geothermal pools and landscapes that feel quietly otherworldly. By the time you reach Reykjavik, things have shifted entirely – slower, calmer, and a long way from the everyday, in the best possible sense.</p>

<p>You kick things off in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which brings just the right amount of colour and energy before easing into island mode in the British Virgin Islands, where Road Town is all pastel buildings and very little urgency. Then it’s on to St Kitts for those dramatic volcanic views, followed by St Barts, where the beaches are quieter and everything feels pleasingly low-key. Anguilla is where things really slow down – soft sand, calm water, nowhere you need to be – before finishing in Miami, which gently reintroduces the real world (but only just). It’s the sort of Caribbean trip that gets the balance right: a bit of buzz, and absolutely no pressure to do anything more than you feel like.</p>

<p>It’s a bit special, this one. Starting in Tokyo – all neon, temples and that slightly thrilling sense of being somewhere completely different – this journey heads north through Japan to places like Aomori and Kushiro, where things quickly become quieter and more landscape-led. Then come a few proper sea days (the good kind), giving you time to slow down before reaching Alaska, where it’s all glaciers, fjords and those vast, open views around Seward, Valdez and Sitka. By the time you arrive into Vancouver via Victoria, you’ve had a bit of everything – city, wilderness, and plenty of space in between – without ever feeling rushed –&nbsp;the kind of journey that stays with you long after you&#8217;re back on dry land.</p>

<p>Starting in Lisbon, with its golden beaches and easy Atlantic light, this journey traces its way north – past Porto’s winding rivers, Galicia’s greener corners and Bilbao’s quietly confident cultural scene. There’s Bordeaux for a glass (or two) of something excellent, and Saint-Jean-de-Luz for clifftop walks before reaching Southampton. Then everything shifts. Norway takes over, with Sandnes, Olden, Bergen and Flåm bringing those ice-blue fjords and towering landscapes that seem to build in scale as you go.
