Pretty pop-ups! New beauty to shop this summer
Fancy a new lippie, liner or luxe shampoo? Ready your makeup bags (and your credit card) - we've scoured the country for the best new beauty shops and pop-ups this summer
As easy as it is to spend countless hours scrolling through online beauty, nothing beats the experience of actually getting hands-on with a product (thank god that swatching seems to be in vogue again, after a tricky few years). That’s why we’ve rounded up the best new beauty halls, pop-ups and boutiques that are available across the land this summer. You’ll thank us – but your credit card might not.
Lipstick fans, rejoice! Makeup artist to the stars Lisa Eldridge has opened her newest beauty pop-up, Carnival of Colour, in Covent Garden for the summer. Following the success of her inaugural pop-up last year, this year’s extravaganza will specialise in swatching and shade-matching with help from Lisa’s handpicked team of experts (ideal if you like to try before you buy, as Lisa Eldridge products are otherwise only available from her website). Pop in to have a play, and try the hotly anticipated new shades in the Luxuriously Lucent and Insanely Saturated lip collections. Open until 4 September.
TV personality-turned-makeup mogul Trinny Woodall (yes, she of What Not To Wear fame) has launched a brand new Trinny London pop-up in Bicester Village, Oxfordshire for the summer. Drop in for a browse around her signature makeup stacks, to peep the brand new skincare products or book an appointment with the Pro Makeup Artists. If you book a personal consultation, you’ll leave with a whole new routine personalised to your unique combination of skin, hair and eyes, with the cost redeemable against products on the day. Open until 4 September.
One for those oop North – online beauty one-stop-shop Justmylook.com have just opened the doors to their first physical store in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. Expect big names from fragrance, skincare, makeup and haircare here – we’re talking everything from Olaplex and Dermalogica to Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani – as well as a #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt section stocked with all the latest products going viral. Well, that’s one way to keep up with the kids.
If you’ve got Gen Z beauty fans in the family, prepare to be their favourite person ever: Ariana Grande’s brand r.e.m. beauty will launch its first physical stand in the UK in Selfridges next month. It promises the full line-up of multi-tasking, cruelty-free products such as the award-winning eyeliner, retro-inspired lipsticks and best-selling skin prep. There are goodie bags up for grabs too, as well as bookable workshops – and if it’s not your style, you can wander the rest of the inimitable Selfridges Beauty Hall instead.
Get ready to shop in the calmest, most serene shop you’ve ever laid eyes on. Vegan Australian skincare line Aesop has expanded its offering with a sleek new Cambridge boutique, which opened at the start of the month on Trinity Street. Inside, not only can you get a big breath of the brand’s signature scents (seriously, I’m bereft if I don’t have one of their hand creams within sniffing distance at all times), you can admire the luxe interiors, which are inspired by academia and made with local hemp and bulrush from the River Great Ouse.
Talk about heaven s(c)ent! Boujie perfume house Diptyque has reopened its Spitalfields boutique following a major design overhaul. Reverting to its traditional Parisian roots ahead of their new Chelsea flagship store opening in October, the look is tres chic, with mosaics created by French artisans and the most over-the-top hewn stone sinks we’ve ever seen. Customers can browse and sniff the infamous candles and fragrances (their new Mediterranean-inspired summer selection is to die for) or use the handy refillable fragrance service.
Fancy brunch, a browse and a brow tidy – all in the name of charity? Everyone’s favourite kitsch Californian brand has announced The Benefit Brunch on 6 Aug in Mayfair, London. This one-day pop-up gives you the chance to try Benefit’s famous brow products, get a complimentary consultation from their experts, and chow down on a tasty brunch (with bottomless drinks if you opt for it!) before taking home a free bag of goodies to play with. What’s more, £5 from every ticket sale is donated to Benefit’s Bold is Beautiful programme, which supports charities like Refuge and Look Good Feel Better – so the more, the merrier. Tickets start at £20.
We’ve finally reached the end of the heatwave… so what better time to talk about Christmas?! Lush has announced they’ll be opening a brand new pop-up this August in Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, London, to sell their super-popular Snow Fairy range, a mere five months before the holidays. You’ll be able to snap up Snow Fairy gifts and products before they launch in September, as well as try out the brand’s first-ever beauty vending machine. Not often you get a bath bomb with your Diet Coke fix!
