Walkies! Cold weather walking gear to pick up now
Gyms are closed (as is practically everything else), so we're getting our exercise fix with some long winter walks. Here's all the gear you'll need to stretch those legs this season.

Take a hike
If you’re a serious walker then you’ll need some hardcore footwear, but for the rest of us, these lace-up leather hiking boots from M&S toe the line (geddit?) between fashion and function. They’re waterproof, have a good grippy rubber sole and won’t chafe like wellies – bargain.

Sock it to me
Ditch the fluffy bed socks (they may be cosy but they’ll only roll down inside your shoes and make you walk funny) and pick up a set of boot socks for your government-mandated stroll instead. This set from Hunter have a reinforced heel and toe and are designed for shorter boots.

Pick up a puffa
Suffice to say, 2020 has been the year of the ‘practical’ fashion trend, and there’s none we’re happier to see than the return of the puffa coat. Half jacket, half duvet, all comfort. We love this hooded number from Uniqlo’s Seamless Down range, plus it comes in four sensibly neutral shades.

Drink up
If you’re striking out across the open fields, you’re going to need to stay hydrated – at least until you reach the next takeaway coffee spot. Chilly’s bottles are great at keeping cold drinks icy for up to 24 hours, or hot drinks warm for up to 12. If some Bailey’s happens to sneak its way into that hot chocolate, who are we to judge?

Keep it tight
So much more than your average set of leggings, these Dolma Tights from clever outdoor brand Sherpa are double-layered to make them wind and water repellent, and have a soft lining and wide waistband for maximum warmth and comfort. Not only that, but for every product purchased Sherpa makes a donation to keep fund a child’s education in Nepal, so you can feel warm and fuzzy in more ways than one.

Wild thing
Ok, this is technically a ski base layer, but we reckon this neon and animal print top from Sweaty Betty is stylish enough to wear out and about. Its sweat-wicking and quick drying properties make it perfect for outdoor workouts (even if that’s just a speedy stride down your local country lane).

Cool down
If you’ve been more couch potato than gym bunny this year (*ahem*), then you might need a helping hand after those longer, butt-busting walks. Enter this soothing set from Cornish brand B Skincare to help speed your recovery.
