<p>Mia went from a small, nurturing primary to a huge mainstream school with thousands of pupils – and it was just too much. By Year 8, she was having panic attacks every morning. One day she was in her uniform, crying on the floor, saying she didn’t want to go on – that’s when I knew something had to change.</p>



<p>Homeschooling wasn’t an option – I’m a solo parent and work full-time – but I found King’s InterHigh through a Facebook group. I wasn’t sure it would work, but it’s been life-changing. Now Mia logs on from the lounge while I work in the kitchen. She’s calmer, in control of her day, and thriving in her subjects. If she feels overwhelmed, “library learning” lets her step away and catch up later. No pressure to have her camera on or speak until she’s ready.</p>



<p>Socially, she’s slowly rebuilding confidence – seeing old friends, trying drama again. The panic has gone. She’s safe, happy, and I feel like I’ve got my daughter back.</p>

<p>I started modelling at seven, then acting, and loved it. But at middle school, auditions and filming clashed with lessons. My teachers told my mum to pull me out of acting – no chance.</p>



<p>At King’s InterHigh, I can plan my day around acting, filming, martial arts, or last-minute self-tapes. If I miss a lesson, it’s recorded; if I need help, I message my teacher. It’s supportive, flexible, and trusts you to get on with it.</p>



<p>Now my younger brother’s here too, also acting, and it works for both of us. I’ve met other actors, athletes and creatives through the Ambassador Programme, and I’m more confident than ever. I want to be an actor&nbsp;<em>and</em>&nbsp;an astrophysicist – and I don’t have to choose.</p>

<p>I’ve been housebound for most of the last five years with Crohn’s disease, long Covid, PoTS, and other health issues, so mainstream school wasn’t possible. I taught myself from YouTube, hardly seeing anyone my age. By the time I joined King’s InterHigh in Y12, I’d forgotten what being in a class felt like.</p>



<p>Now I run my day my way. Fatigue means mornings are a write-off, so I take lessons in the afternoon or watch recordings later – even from hospital. That flexibility means I can keep learning without sacrificing my health.</p>



<p>The best bit? The clubs. I’ve sung solos in the Christmas production, edited multi-character scenes for House Drama, and won Musical Theatre competitions – all from my bed. And the school’s Minecraft server gives me a social space I never thought I’d have again. It’s not just about A Levels – it’s about feeling part of something.</p>

<p>We’ve been travelling full-time since 2019. After trying every kind of home-schooling – unschooling, wild schooling, even a Waldorf Steiner school in India – I realised we needed structure, proper teachers, and something portable. Enter King’s InterHigh.</p>



<p>Wherever we are – Bali, Nepal, Lombok – the kids log in each day on a timetable adapted to our time zone. If the surf’s too good to miss, they catch up later. Erihn sat her end-of-year assessments from a rental in Bali with patchy Wi-Fi – and smashed them.</p>



<p>Socially, Erihn&#8217;s got a close circle of friends from school dotted all over the world – from Hong Kong to the UK – and they chat constantly online, sometimes even meeting up in person when our paths cross. Jacob’s the same, just with more climbing trees and football on the beach thrown in. Both are thriving, not just academically, but emotionally too.</p>



<p>We’ve found a rhythm that works for our family: mornings at the beach or doing yoga, school in the afternoon, and adventures tucked in wherever we can. And the best part? We haven’t had to sacrifice a thing to live this way.</p>
