<p>If your dream weekend involves muddy boots, sticky fingers, the occasional tantrum (child or adult, we don’t judge) and still managing to sneak in a Negroni –&nbsp;<a href="https://luxuryfamilyhotels.co.uk/locations/new-park-manor/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">New Park Manor</a>’s got you. Plonked right in the middle of Hampshire’s New Forest near Brockenhurst, this grand country house hotel and spa comes with a £7m refurb, wild ponies on the doorstep, and Peppa Pig World just down the road (because sometimes you have to take one for the team).</p>



<p>The hotel is part of the Luxury Family Hotels group, who’ve cracked the code on kid-friendly without sacrificing style — think luxe country house living with added Lego. No surprise then that&nbsp;<em>The Times</em>&nbsp;crowned it “Best Family-Friendly Hotel” in their 100 Best Places to Stay 2025 list.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-vibe">THE VIBE</h2>

<p>Country glamour, but with built-in parental hacks. Interiors wink at its royal hunting past with woodland tones, dog portraits in military uniform and artist Emily Daborn’s playful wallpaper. The toadstool-lined corridor? Straight out of Alice in Wonderland, minus the trip hazards.</p>



<p>Since we last visited a few years ago, the makeover in the refurbished rooms and family dining room has added a real luxury feel and polish to every part of the hotel, making it possible for all the family to properly enjoy themselves. Every corner has been reimagined for families – from a snug mezzanine library for story time, to giant snakes and ladders on the lawn, to a mud kitchen hidden in the trees. You can swan about pretending you’re in <em>Country Life</em> while the kids disappear into play heaven. Win-win.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-child-s-play">CHILD’S PLAY</h2>

<p>This is where New Park Manor shows its parenting genius. An Ofsted-registered crèche, a proper playground, games room, wooden fort, and the pièce de résistance – the Four Bears Den, where kids get two free hours of supervised childcare each day of your stay (kids get two free hours of supervised childcare for each day of your stay – 9.30am-11.30am or 2.30pm-4.30pm. Translation: spa, cocktails, or a blissful stare into space.</p>

<p>Add in popcorn cinema nights, evening milk and cookies, Yoto story boxes, nightlights and baby monitors on tap, and you’ll quickly understand why frazzled families come back on repeat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-amp-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>

<p>Food manages that rare trick of pleasing both picky kids and adults who’ve eaten one fish finger too many. The light-filled Vinery is all casual suppers and chatter; The Stag Restaurant dials it up with dark wood, cocktails and chandeliers for when the children are safely tucked up.</p>

<p>Expect seasonal, locally sourced menus that are indulgent without being too “<em>MasterChef</em> pressure test”. We wolfed down Old Winchester soufflé, rib-eye steak and a sinful chocolate mousse, while our nine-year-old gleefully tackled schnitzel, chips and a brownie sundae from the dedicated kids menu – plus a mocktail, naturally. Honestly, it was the most chilled family meal you’ll ever eat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-pillow-talk">PILLOW TALK</h2>

<p>Rooms (there are 25) mix forest greens, warm autumnal hues and plenty of character. Some are in the main house; newer suites come with terraces and sweeping views. Ours (the Sika – a Deer Park Deluxe) had a balcony, Bramley full-size toiletries (no stingy minis here), robes, slippers, and – crucial for grown-up survival – a Nespresso machine.</p>

<p>Our junior reviewer revelled in her own robe and made a beeline for the pool pre-dinner, because why not? Breakfast the next morning – buffet plus cooked-to-order full English – was the kind that keeps you going until well into the afternoon.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-spa">THE SPA</h2>

<p>Family spa-ing sounds like a contradiction, but New Park Manor has nailed it. There’s an outdoor pool with Amalfi-style parasols, an indoor pool with Jacuzzis and saunas, plus special junior treatments (mini facials and mani-pedis, anyone?). Adults can book in for seaweed facials, body wraps, or even a futuristic Somadome meditation pod complete with colour therapy and crystals.</p>



<p>The spa terrace overlooks fields dotted with deer, hot tubs bubbling away. It’s indulgent, serene and – crucially – works for everyone.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-out-amp-about">OUT &amp; ABOUT</h2>

<p>So much to do right on the doorstep. Boot up and take a delightful walk in the New Forest as we did, wandering from the hotel down to a river where wild ponies were trotting around, or hire some bikes and freewheel it even further. Attractions-wise, <a href="https://hants.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/beaulieu-new-forest/">Beaulieu</a> (home of the National Motor Museum) and <a href="https://hants.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/furzey-gardens-minstead/">Furzey Gardens</a> are both around 15 mins drive away. <a href="https://paultonspark.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paulton’s Park (and Peppa Pig World</a>) and the beautiful <a href="https://exbury.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Exbury Gardens</a> are 20 mins drive. The best indie shops in the area (and crabbing on the quayside) can be found in the lovely New Forest town of <a href="https://hants.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/hampshire-iow/lymington/">Lymington</a>, down on the coast and less than 15 mins drive from New Park Manor.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">DOG-FRIENDLY?</h2>



<p>Bring the hound. For £25 a night, dogs get their own bed, bowl, ball and treats, plus an ‘a la bark’ menu and even a canine afternoon tea (yes, really). After muddy romps, wash them off at the dog station before heading back inside.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-accessibility">ACCESSIBILITY</h2>



<p>It’s a listed building, so stair-free access to rooms isn’t possible, but some bathrooms have walk-in showers. The spa has an accessible changing room and poolside facilities.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>



<p><strong>GOOD FOR:&nbsp;</strong>Parents who fancy spa time, cocktails and actual lie-ins without ditching the kids. Families who like the countryside with added polish. Dog-owners who can’t stand those puppy-dog eyes when they leave for the weekend.</p>



<p><strong>NOT FOR:</strong>&nbsp;Adults craving absolute silence (school holidays are lively, let’s say).</p>



<p><strong>THE DAMAGE:&nbsp;</strong>Cosy doubles start from £245, rising to suite prices for families or those wanting extra space.</p>
