10 online workouts that take 15 minutes or less

Not feeling it for Joe Wicks or Davina? Here, bash out one of these online workouts instead - a quarter of an hour of effort, smug for the rest of the day.

Week 47695 of lockdown and I don’t know about you but I feel the need to shake up my fitness. Joe Wicks is all very lovely, but I’m over daily routines with my family (I know, I know, it’s sacrilege), and with children literally everywhere I turn – look here’s one coming out of the woodwork right now – I never feel I have enough time to myself to do a proper hour’s workout without being interrupted.

So this is an entirely selfish feature I’ve created for me, myself and I but hopefully it will also help anyone else struggling with fitness motivation. 10 online apps that will stretch, pert or raise the heart rate in 15 minutes or less? That’ll do nicely!

Yoga workout

Seven app

A handy app that does what it says on the tin. Each workout is just seven minutes long, and varies depending on what you’re after (butt-lifting, ab-firming – you know the drill). Handily, the app blows a whistle at you from time to time to prompt you to get of your bum and get exercising. Available for free on iOs and Android – there’s even an Apple Watch app for you techno lot.

Point those toes! This 10-minute on-demand class from ballet-inspired studio Barrecore is perfect for working up a sweat first thing (or whenever you get a spare moment). You won’t need any equipment, either – just a chair. Barrecore on demand costs £25 per month, but you can try a two-week trial for free if you’re not ready to commit.

Office break yoga

If you haven’t heard of Yoga with Adriene, you’re seriously missing out – over 7 million people regularly tune into her YouTube channel for her mega-soothing voice and easy-to-follow routines. This 14-minute stretch is designed to break up a day of office work, so it’s ideal for those working from home.

Tone in 10

This series of four 10-minute videos from on-demand workout goldmine Instructor Live focus on different parts of the body – legs, abs, arms and chest – so you can mix it up throughout the week. It costs £4 per month to access just this series, or for £32 a year you can subscribe to Instructor Live’s 800+ classes.

Fiit app

This app offers a mix of workouts between 10, 25 and 40 minutes depending on how much time (and energy) you have. The on-demand classes cover everything from HIIT and combat to yoga and Pilates, and the live leaderboard classes are great for getting competitive – those after a lockdown fitness transformation will love it. Prices start from £10 a month, and there’s a 14-day free trial too.

The Fitness Marshall

Possibly the perkiest trainer in existence, Caleb Marshall creates short dance routine videos on YouTube that are so fun you’ll hardly realise you’re exercising. You can subscribe for full hour workouts, but as the free videos are only a few minutes long you can chuck one on whenever you fancy. Bonus – the kids will love this one too.

LES MILLS Bodycombat

Proper fitness bods will know all about LES MILLS and their online on-demand service, but you might not know that you can get a free taster via their YouTube channel. For example, this 13-minute Bodycombat video is fast-paced, heart-pumping goodness to slot into your busy day.

HIIT full body workout

Model and fitness influencer (apparently this is now an official job title) Pamela Reif’s YouTube channel has more short workout routines than you can shake a dumbbell at, but this 15-minute HIIT full body workout is our top pick if you want to work up a serious sweat in no time at all.

Daily Cardio Workout

Daily Workout Apps make free apps for iOs and Android focusing on different body workouts between 5 and 10 minutes – perfect if you want to spot train for a peachier bum or tighter abs. For an all-over fitness buzz, I’m veering towards the Daily Cardio Workout.

Kayla Itsines 5-minute legs

If you’ve heard of the Bikini Body Guide or seen the hashtag #BBG floating around Insta, you’ll know about Kayla Itsines. Her SWEAT app is well-rated, but you can join her 12.5m followers to catch the quick and easy work outs she posts on Instagram, like her five minute leg routine.
