Muddy Stilettos


<p>Brit design house Burberry&#8217;s descending on the sun-soaked shores of Europe and putting its stamp on the beautiful <a href="https://www.bellesrives.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hôtel Belles Rives</a> in Antibes and <a href="https://www.oneandonlyresorts.com/aesthesis/burberry" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One&amp;Only Aesthesis</a> in Greece this summer. </p>

<p>Bringing in beach club vibes, with sun loungers, parasols and deck chairs all covered in the brand’s blue signature check, it’s also making its mark inside, including Hôtel Belles Rives&#8217; original 1920s lift. </p>

<p>Last year, the British fashion house took over The Newt in Somerset, but this year’s takeover&#8217;s even wilder, including checked golf buggies, tennis courts and even a branded speed boat. </p>

<p>Belmond’s Royal Scotsman x Dior collab is beyond cool. You can board the luxe sleeper train from London to the Scottish Highlands and book a pampering sesh in the Dior Spa&#8217;s lacquered treatment rooms (the tailor-made D-Travel body massage including semi-precious hot stones sounds dreamy). Post-massage, sit down to a gourmet meal before tucking up in your comfy bed while epic scenery rolls by.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One of Bulgari’s fanciest hotels (you&#8217;ll find others in Bali, London and LA) lies on Piazza Augusto Imperatore and has 114 suites, swanky spa and even a fancy pants reading room dedicated to the history of jewellery. Premier Inn this is not.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Muddy Stilettos is, naturally, a fan of the legendary shoe designer so it goes without saying we&#8217;re a fan of this gorgeous hotel set in the cool coastal resort Melides, 90 minutes from Lisbon. Thirteen bedrooms come with white walls, tiled floors, eye-catching furniture (one room has a rattan table shaped like a monkey) and flashes of red, just like his signature soles. Xtian restaurant serving local delicacies like octopus salad and pork with clams, spectacular gardens, a peaceful roof terrace, ornate bar and petite spa (a treatment cabin for two) complete the magic.</p>

<p>Lucky Coco actually lived at The Ritz for more than 30 years (as you do) and the suite’s as tasteful as you’d hope, think black, white and beige colour palette, soaring ceilings and gilt-framed mirrors. Photos of the designer adorn the walls and the bathrooms are heavenly, including vanity tables laden with Chanel products. Chic retreat overload.</p>

<p>After flexing the credit card in Fendi’s flagship store on Via Dei Condotti, why carry bags around when you could simply check into Fendi Private Suites above? It might sound like a Kardashian-style fantasy but the seven polished suites with black and white photos of Karl Lagerfeld, curved sofas and shelves filled with books on fashion really do exist. At the very least take a load off in the rooftop restaurant. </p>

<p>Tucked away in the Marais, this charming hotel’s lavish interiors are all created by fashion designer Christian Lacroix. We love the Boulangerie exterior, 60s bar furniture, polka-dot carpets and Baroque, Rococo and Couture themed rooms. Magnifique.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Minimalist designer hotel, where neutral furnishings are predominantly a tasteful Armani-esque beige &#8211; Muddy wouldn’t want to spill a glass of red wine here. It could be dull, but it’s actually really calming, and besides there’s an eighth-floor spa, onyx cocktail bar and Michelin-starred restaurant to keep things entertaining.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Talk about the Midas touch, even the columns are gold at this palatial waterfront hotel on the Gold (apt) Coast which has an abundance of polished parquet floors, Italian marble bathrooms, bespoke Versace furnishings and custom made toiletries. Don’t miss the Couture High Tea with cocktails and cakes or lying on the poolside Versace fabric-covered daybeds (though try not to get quite as tanned as Donatella).  </p>
