<p>Have you checked out Exeter recently? A city neatly tucked between the beaches of the south coast and the wilderness of Dartmoor, it’s a fab option for a weekender – small, walkable and with a cool, visible cross-section of history, starting with *that* gorgeous Gothic cathedral, and waterside Quay; it has a nightlife to please everyone from students to the most discerning crowd; and its indie scene is alive and kicking, baby!</p>

<p>Totnes was into sustainable living and eco-chic well before the rest of the UK, and now everyone else has caught on, it’s looking very on-trend. Known for its indie high street and music scene, this buzzing South Hams town has a motte and bailey castle, cool coffee shops and river options. Some say it’s the Notting Hill of the South West (just don’t let a local hear you calling it that.)</p>
