There are eight of them in fact, worthy of a boutique hotel, with pops of jewel hues dotted around, as well as mod cons like GHDs, Nespresso machines and Bluetooth Roberts radios. One room is dog-friendly and you can bring your pampered pooch(es) for a surcharge of £20 per pup, which will get them a bed for the night and a bowl too. Plus they can hang out with you in the bar too when you head down for brekkie.

You can dine here in the grand Tudor surroundings of the Cedar restaurant or take afternoon tea in the Great Hall, and your dog will also get a warm welcome, with doggy drinking facilities and an outside hose for post-walk wash down, plus dog walking guides of the local area, with routes suitable for the young and boisterous to those feeling a bit more sedate. Pssst – it also makes a great dog-friendly wedding venue, for anyone who might be looking.

The Elms, Abberley, Worcestershire

The Elms Hotel & Spa is a country retreat that oozes laid back elegance, they welcome four-legged friends with open arms and we’re told even the friendly, hotel black cat, George, does too. With 10 acres of grounds, the stunning Malvern Hills, and open countryside in every direction, you can bring your dog along for £20 per night and stay in one of the refined, country-style Coach House bedrooms.

Each one has direct access to the gardens, and come with dreamy Elemis Spa bath products. You can make the stay extra special by requesting Champagne, chocolates or flowers in the room upon arrival (and why not) and we love that you can take pets down to the Bar and Lounge area when you want to eat. Filled with deep, comfy sofas and furry throws to snuggle into, this place has a gorgeous home-from-home feeling, plus an award-winning spa with its own indoor/outdoor hot tub.
