You know what no one tells you when you move to the countryside? Yes, you gain rolling views, fresh air and an irrational obsession with log baskets. But you also say goodbye to your entire late-night delivery habit. Your go-to dumpling joint? Gone. That quirky Thai that did pad see ew just the way you like it? A distant, coriander-scented memory.



Enter&nbsp;<a href="https://little-fish.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Little Fish</a>, the premium sushi and pan-Asian delivery service that’s doing the absolute lord’s work for those of us who’ve fled the city but still crave a rainbow roll. Helmed by proper chefs with restaurant credentials, they deliver freshly made sushi and Southeast Asian dishes to homes across Oxfordshire, Bucks, Berkshire, Surrey and beyond. No, it’s not the same as waving down a waiter in Soho – but honestly? It’s dangerously close.

Ordering is a breeze via their website or app – just pop in your postcode to check they deliver to your patch (chances are they do), then choose your delivery slot. You’ll receive your feast chilled and beautifully packaged (and on time), with any hot dishes clearly labelled and reheating instructions included (though frankly most are inhaled straight from the box).

The menu covers everything from classic sushi and signature maki to hot dishes, salads and sharing platters. You can also add wines, sakes, and sweet treats to your order – ideal if you’re planning date night or just can’t face putting on real trousers to go out. Yes, you need to plan ahead – this is not a fast food fix. But to be honest, Little Fish only needs a day or twos notice.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-amp-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>

Dinner delivered to the doorstep, so what&#8217;s in the box? First out were the&nbsp;Salt &amp; Pepper Prawns. This is a dish from Little Fish&#8217;s heat at home range, Simply scan the QR code on the lid for the cooking instructions, pop them in the oven for 3-5 mins and, bosh!, they pop out golden, crispy and subtly spiced. Less your greasy takeaway tempura, more your posh dinner party canapé with crunch, with onion and chilli to create a colourful plate. I managed approximately two before my husband hoovered the rest. Emotional.

And then we hit the sushi. Oh, the sushi. The&nbsp;Salmon Teriyaki Ura Maki&nbsp;was rich and glossy, with a just-sweet-enough sauce and the kind of soft, fatty fish that practically melts on the tongue. The&nbsp;Seared Tuna Sushi&nbsp;had beautifully torched edges and a sashimi-like freshness that gave it a posh “I summer in Tokyo” vibe.

But it was the&nbsp;Crispy Kataifi Prawn Ura Maki&nbsp;that really turned heads – crunchy, golden pastry-wrapped parcels of prawn delight. Slightly over the top and totally addictive. For drama and indulgence, the&nbsp;Spider Roll&nbsp;– soft-shell crab, creamy avocado, spicy mayo – delivered like a reality TV finale. Meanwhile, the&nbsp;Dragon Roll&nbsp;was classic and comforting, packed with eel sauce and avocado in a deliciously rich combo.

And if you like your sushi with a little spice, the&nbsp;Dynamite Roll&nbsp;brought the heat – not so much it burns, but enough to make you reach for your wine and nod in satisfaction. It’s a bit like being shouted at by a very stylish chef. In a good way.

If sushi&#8217;s not your bag, there&#8217;s a good selection of heat at home asian dishes to choose from. We were reaching peak fulness from the sushi, but took one for then team. So next up, the&nbsp;Prawn Phad Thai. QR code scanned again, this one can be heated in the microwave or oven, then simply squeeze the lime wedge over the dish, scatter the nuts – and it&#8217;s &#8216;get in my belly&#8217; ready. Flavours were excellent, the perfect balance between sweet, tangy and savoury. The noodles had chew (important), the prawns were juicy, and it wasn’t bogged down by oil or sugar – comfort food with polish.



We also dived into a&nbsp;Crayfish &amp; Soba Noodle Salad&nbsp;which was a refreshing, nutty little number – ideal for lighter appetites or smug weekday lunches. The zing of miso-sesame dressing and sweet crayfish made it feel like something you’d find on a spa retreat menu, in the best way.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-extras">EXTRAS</h2>



For those who like to go full-throttle with their order, Little Fish also offers extras like Japanese desserts, premium wines, sake and Champagne. No need to sneak out to the Co-Op in joggers – the full luxe experience is covered. We didn&#8217;t add all the bells and whistles, but there&#8217;s so much more on the menu that it&#8217;s the excuse we need to order again. I&#8217;m already eyeing up the Red Thai Curry, Salted Caramel Mochi and a bottle of Heritage Falanghina – ‘The Funky One&#8217; – an Italian white chosen for its name, although the tasting notes make it sound like a deliciously safe bet.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-child-friendly">CHILD-FRIENDLY?</h2>



Surprisingly yes. If your offspring are the sort to nibble on edamame and casually request sushi on a Tuesday (who&nbsp;are these children?), there’s plenty for them here. Teriyaki salmon, noodle dishes and even the milder sushi rolls will appeal to the under-10 set. That said, this is probably more “treat night with tweens” than toddler tea time.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>



GOOD FOR: Luxe Friday nights in. Impressing foodie mates without so much as heating the oven. Parents who fancy a proper meal once the kids are finally in bed, and rural dwellers craving a taste of summer in the city.



NOT FOR: Bargain-hunters (this is premium stuff) and spontaneous snackers – pre-ordering is essential.



THE DAMAGE: Our feast came in just shy of £105 – although we bagged two mains free with their July promo (result). Without offers, expect to pay £35–£50 per person for a proper blowout. Pricey? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely.
