Pyjama time!

It's suddenly dark, cold and wet outside - let's hunker down and cheer ourselves up with some chic new pyjamas (yes, such things do actually exist).

I always find nightwear shopping a tricky task – why is it all so… horrible? Either grannyish, made of fleece, cutesy and infantile or ‘sexy’ negligée-style inflammable tat.

With autumn being peak PJs-on-the-sofa season – hey, it’s raining again – let’s stay in!- it’s the ideal moment to let you know about a luxe, chic, totally grown-up brand that’s top of my Christmas list (too early? Sorry).

Desmond & Dempsey’s hand-painted designs are, as they put it, ‘a modern take on a sleepy classic’. Their latest collection is just beautiful and brings a dash of warmth to winter with their Mexican-themed colourways and motifs (wild horses, monkeys, palm trees and tr0pical flowers). You can get them monogrammed if you’re feeling fancy – a good way to stop jealous family members and overnight guests from stealing them, I reckon.

Milou Print Multi set, £150

La Vida Print set, £150

Caballo Horse Print set, £150

They’re created by a ridiculously photogenic Brit/Aussie millennial couple, Molly and Joel, whose lightbulb moment came when they first started dating and she’d wear his cotton shirts in the morning after one of their, um, adult sleepovers. They soon knocked up some cosy pyjamas for her to lounge around and drink coffee in and the brand launched in 2014. Now there’s menswear too and gifts, including dreamy candles and notebooks. Anyone fancy an early night?
