Shake up your style
Throw out the rule book, become a fashion rebel and ring the changes this festive season - voilà, our top style tips for rebooting your wardrobe.
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
For something that sounds so simple, getting dressed can be such hard work. Especially at this time of year when there’s all manner of parties, lunches, dinners, drinks and full-blown parties to fit in alongside work, the school run, walking the dog and prepping for Christmas.
If you find yourself forever opening your wardrobe and thinking,”Ugh, boring” (*raises hand*) or “Aargh, I’ve got nothing to wear” (*raises other hand*) then this feature is for you. Rather than dragging out that same old LBD for its 8,000th outing, how about shaking things up this season? Here are five easy-peasy style tips to encourage you think a little differently (you fashion rebel, you!), with a little help from Muddy favourite, hush.
Spangles are for life not just for Christmas

Glitter V-neck top: £49
Gone are the days when glitter, sequins and shimmer had to be reserved for special occasions. We’re big fans of daytime bedazzlement at Muddy, especially on gloomy winter days. Just add jeans or a simple skirt to this sequinned top and it’ll take you from work to lunch to drinks and beyond.
Glide from office to evening without faff

Dress, £79
If you spend your weekdays running around headless-chicken style like us, you’ll know that the notion of changing your outfit for an evening event is laughable. Who has the time? Instead, find a versatile “anchor” piece, like this dress, chuck a chunky jumper over it and wear it with flat boots by day, then by night whip off the knit, whip on some statement earrings, red lippie and heels and you’re good to go.
Jazz up those joggers
Who’d have thought jogging bottoms would ever make it out of the gym/ off the sofa? They’re an unlikely going out go-to but they absolutely work. Wear with heels, a slinky top and a blazer to add structure to your silhouette (and banish all thoughts of Sporty Spice).
Don’t default to the LBD
I know, I know, it’s so tempting, especially when you have a wardrobe brimming with black frocks. But there’s so many other options these days so why not mix it up a bit? My two favourites: this show-stopping spin on leopard print, which combines a bold colourway and a sexy cut, and this satin wrap midi that definitely won’t give you the blues. Go big or go home, right?
You can totally party in trainers

Glitter jumpsuit, £75 and white trainers, £139
I am so over teetering around events in shoes I can’t walk in (it’s Muddy Stilettos in the metaphorical sense, OK?!) The good news is that you can absolutely get away with going out out in trainers these days. In fact, with this glitter jumpsuit, chunky white sneakers aren’t just the practical choice but they tone down the one-piece’s inherent jazziness and make it more wearable. Plus you can dance until you drop, no problemo.
