Saltee Sea & Sun Formula
We love this vegan-friendly, cruelty free and paraben free SPF 50 sun cream from Saltee. It uses naturally derived UVA and UVB protection and absorbs super quickly, so no chalky faces on the beach, thank you very much. The clincher? Because it has super-hydrating cucumber extract in it, you can also use this product as after-sun care. Two birds, one safely sun-kissed stone.
Bob Sunglasses in Demi Olive
Nellie & Dove in Oxfordshire stock a whole range of super-cool sunglasses by Scandi brand A.Kjærbede, which is convenient because we’re obsessed — particularly with this 90s-vibes Bob style. With UV 400 protection and scratch-proof lenses, these bad boys are stylish and functional, and just crying out to be paraded down Brighton pier on a staycay.
Storm & Marie Ginza Bikini
It’s bright, it’s cute, and it’s made from recycled ocean plastic! This yellow gauze bikini from Bucks-based boutique Fabric is just the thing for soaking up the British sun (God willing it arrives) and comes with sustainability bragging rights to boot. All we’re missing is a big floppy hat and a large 99 ice cream, please and thank you.

White Linen Kaftan
Cor, look at that breeze. You, too, can sexily bask in a hot summer wind, draped in 100% artisan linen, thanks to this gauzy kaftan from Oxfordshire brand Thread Tales. Handwoven and eco-dyed, it’s a classic beachwear essential elevated to an ethical, classy plane.
Stripes Duffle Bag
Look extra cute lugging your water bottles, sun cream, and family bag of ready-salted crisps (the essentials, right?) to the beach with this bag from Bucks brand NORSK. The black and white stripes are giving us summery sailor vibes, and we love a bag that’s stylish but also big enough to be actually functional. No settling for scrappy little travel towels, here.
100 Acres Body Lotion
Bye-bye scaly legs, hello sumptuous summer skin. You best believe we’ll be slathering the body lotion from Oxon-based 100 Acres all over ourselves this summer, ready to kick back and gleam on the Cornish coast. Full of hydrating goodies like shea butter and sweet almond oil, it leaves skin quenched but not greasy, so none of that nasty marinated-chicken sensation (if you know, you know). Best of all? It’s vegan, comes in recyclable packaging, and is made in Britain.

Towelling Long Hooded Top
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside… but let’s be honest, wrestling in and out of your cozzie without flashing your white bits to the world requires the agility of a contortionist. Bridie & Bert is a Berkshire business producing simple, super-soft long sleeve towelling tops and tunics for babies, kids, teens and adults. We love these nautical but nice stripes: stylish enough to whip over your swimsuit for lunch at the beach café, or sundowners on the way home.
Whether you’re staycationing or swanning off to warmer climes, this traditional style basket from Oh, Curio in Northants is a classic, everyday bag that is perfect for giving off those essential Jane Birkin vibes. Team with jeans or a kaftan; it’ll go with everything and works for bunging all your stuff in when you’re lounging by the pool, or carrying back your baguettes after a morning of market mooching.
Bohonomad Turkish Sandals
We adore these Bohonomad Turkish rope sandals from Anorak in Bedford. Not only are they super stylish – like a sort of nautical take on gladiator sandals – but they’re also sea salt and chlorine resistant, machine washable, sustainable, vegan and ethically produced by women in Turkey through fair employment.
Brakeburn beach bag
Plenty of room for all your beach gear in this sturdy cotton canvas bag – that measures over half a metre across – with internal zip pocket and extra slip pockets for keys and stuff, designed in Dorset by Poole-based clothing and accessories biz Brakeburn.

It features one of the cool and distinctive designs by creative duo Nickie and Caroline (of Beds brand Another Epic Day), hand-printed at their Leighton Buzzard studio.
It’s all about creating that sought-after indoors/outdoors feel at the moment and if you can’t go on holiday, this is the next best thing. They’re made from recycled sail cloth and are all totally unique due to the nature of being recycled. Plus they feature interesting touches from the original sails. Perfect for chucking in your towel, sunnies and SPF for the beach (or garden!)
Cowhide Ice Bucket
There’s simply no excuse for letting your Moët be anything less than chilled to perfection with this cowhide ice bucket from Northants brand Forever Wild. Made from sustainable materials, each one is completely unique due to the variation in pattern, and we think these are the perfect glam addition to al fresco entertaining. It may not be dishwasher friendly but that’s the price we pay for being totally extra.

This Ganni leopard print swimsuit, available from Thackerays Woman in Northampton, ticks all our swimwear boxes. It’s made from 100% recycled materials for start, so earns instant eco-credentials. That’s a neutral BTW. Massive shades and a turban and you’re good to go.

Here, they are lined with towelling to become jewel-coloured beach towels, with a Velcro pockets for cash and keys. Handwoven in the Kenyan village of Watamu for Somerset-based Bushbells, every purchase helps fund the education of the village’s children and supports local families. 160 x 100 cm.
Geometric Recycled Cotton Blanket
If there’s anything we love more than drinking rosé on a beach under summer stars, it’s drinking rosé on a beach wrapped in a super soft, cosy blanket from The Norfolk Hare. Inspired by Cornish coastal life, this is perfect for candlelit dinners in the garden, breezy picnics and snuggling down at outdoor movie nights. Made in England from recycled cotton and T-shirts, it ticks sustainable boxes AND it’s machine washable. Happy hygge holiday!
Sarah Yellow Raincoat
Raining again? Things will brighten up with this super-cute, sunshine yellow slicker especially made for Woman’s Best Friend. Pluviophiles unite! Get out and dance in the summer rain.
Norfolk Farmhouse Gin
Pack the essentials: bikini (yes, you can!), lippy, gin. Norfolk’s Walnut Tree Distillery has a gorgeous selection. For summer tippling we think pink, so we LOVE the new Rose: dry gin infused with edible rose petals for a sweet edged, subtly fragrant spirit. Add tonic (elderflower’s the perfect serve) and the colour blushes from deep caramel to rich pink. A little bit of Norfolk magic wherever you wander.
Matches in Striker Bottle
Terrace set up for sundowners, olive branches on the BBQ (thanks for that tip fabulous Stanley Tucci), tealights, lanterns, firepit ready. So… who brought the matches? Well, you did obviously. A Muddy woman is always prepared to strike! That’s if you can bear to use these oh-so-pretty matches from Thistle & Wax in Norfolk. Extra long too, so candle-lovers can reach the shortest wick for a gorgeous summer afterglow.
Inflatable Drinks Holder
This charming inflatable swan drink holder from Sunnylife in Glos is just the thing for lazy days by the pool (or garden hot tub!) floating around with your spritz. It also doubles up as a great way to hold your drinks while sunbathing on the beach or grass. Choose from this elegant swan or go all-out rock ‘n’ roll with the pink flamingo. Big enough to hold cans, beer glasses and cocktails, it’s super easy to pack: just pump it up and go.

Black Espadrille Wedge
Our beloved Birkenstocks can’t be beat in the cool and comfort stakes, but unless you’re a willowy six footer, a little help in the heel department can help carry off those teeny shorts nicely (you little minx). So say hello to your new best summertime friends. These Espadrille sandals from Lewis Yates in Billericay are gorgeously stylish and go with pretty much everything. But the best bit is the 8cm wedge provides a good dose of extra leg-length, all in a sensible heel. I’ll take three pairs, please.
OMG – talk about impressing your mates on the beach as you saunter up holding this baby. Is it a lamp? A cooler? A speaker? Nay, it is all three of those things. The Kooduu Synergy 50 ProPlus from Max of Southwold in Suffolk is rechargeable and lasts for up to 10 hours. Pricey but worth it.
Floaty ‘Ella’ Beach Dress
Longing to waft about in a floaty beach dress this summer? They don’t come much more wafty and floaty than this ‘Devotion Twins’ Ella dress from coastal chic experts Collen and Clare in Suffolk. It’s pure cotton so super lightweight and breathable and has an embroidered design and tiered skirt, plus elegant bell sleeves making it bang on-trend. Can you wear it in Southwold instead of sunny Spain? Of course, you can!
Cosy Camp S’mores Kit
We love these cute S’mores kits from Cambs-based Cosy Camp S’mores. Set up by art teacher Asher during the lockdown, when her children wanted an indoor campfire, these kits are great for adults and kids alike. Each one comes with its own non-toxic, smokeless burner (for use indoors or out), skewers, and all the sweet treats you need to toast. We can’t wait to crack open a box of these at the next beach gathering.
Ah, many a fun day has been spent in Laird Hatters on the charming Green Street in Cambridge trying on hats. Super stylish and well made, these beautiful hats are worth every penny. On the summer must-have list is this raffia trilby. Loving the red, but it also comes in cream – ideal for picnics on a punt or sunning yourself on the beach.

In the softest pink, this beautiful kaftan-style dress from luxe Sussex boutique Jojo just begs to be thrown on for a classy lunch or decadent dinner – ideally, of course, at a beachfront location and accessorised with a spectacular view. Watch the sun go down and the sky turn as pink as your dress, nibble delicacies, sip cocktails and feel that unmistakeable glow you can only get on holiday.
Sumi Haori Kimono Jacket
Look, you can’t swan around by the pool at that fancy hotel or luxury self-catering cottage in your threadbare old dressing gown, OK? You also can’t throw it on over a killer outfit to go out for dinner somewhere decadent, either. So do yourself a favour and snap up this unique kimono jacket, handmade to order from Brighton designer Sophie Darling. It’s 100% premium satin silk, lined, and features a stunning illustration created by Sophie after a visit to the V&A’s Kimono exhibition. A true investment piece, it’ll gather memories and compliments – perfect.
Ebb & Flow hamman towels
Probably the most essential bit of kit for a Cornish beach trip (other than a waterproof), these chic striped cotton towels pack down small, actually work – ie, they dry skin and hair, look fab on beach or lounger and are endlessly versatile. Cold? They make a good scarf. Hot? Keeps the sun off. And while it may not be super sexy to chat longevity, we’ve washed ours day in, day out, for more than five years and they still look as good as ever.

Nautical Niceness Glasses
Feeling land-locked this summer? Escape down the bottom of a glass (not like that, naughty) with these nautically nice tumblers from Dartmouth artist, Bert & Buoy. Inspired by Bert’s love of the South Hams harbour town and designed in collaboration with The Great Pottery Throwdown’s Keith Brymer Jones, we fancy filling one of these with a gin-snifter and drinking to holidays past and future. Here’s to them!
Personalised pompom bag
Pompoms make every day a celebration, don’t they, even the days when you’re postponing your flights to Kefalonia for a year hence (again). But enough about us – this straw beach bag has got your name on it. Or it could have, as Roam will personalise it with your initials in their lovely Devon store, even though it started life as palm leaves in Morocco. So, hopefully it will be imbued with the lingering aroma of souks and spices which you can sniff on rainy days when you’re down the beach at Dawlish Warren.
Sagaform nautical cooler bag
Perfect for keeping your drinks and food cool during days out on the beach, this cooler bag from Swedish company Sagaform is chic and stylish. The wide handle makes it easy to carry – no pinched shoulders here – and the water-repellent linen finish keeps things relaxed and cool.
