LONDON

Aulis, Soho

Tucked away on St Anne’s Court, just off Dean Street, Aulis is tiny, exclusive, utterly unmissable and limited to just twelve guests per service. Here, dining is an interactive theatre: executive chef Oli Marlow and head chef Charlie Tayler craft a multiple-course tasting menu in front of you, explaining each dish as it arrives. With a Michelin Star already under its belt, Aulis blends precision, creativity, and a farm-to-fork ethos into a truly memorable evening. Priced at £195 for the tasting menu, with optional wine pairings, it’s a ticket to culinary immersion that disappears fast – reservations open in monthly blocks and vanish almost immediately.

sugo82, Hackney

Sugo82 is Hackney’s family-run trattoria experience in micro form. With just two private tables, you can choose to perch on the terrace above the kitchen overlooking Hackney Market, or settle into Nonna’s Table (above), a cosy nook that feels just like eating at your Italian grandmother’s house. Seasonal menus, regular specials, and classics like arancini Norma, carbonara, and house Nutella bombolini are a deliciously regular occurrence.

HOME COUNTIES

Angela’s, Margate, Kent

Angela’s is Margate’s understated seafood star, small in size but big on flavour and sustainability – and a Michelin Green Star to back it up. Seasonal, local fish is the headline, paired with simple, vegetable-forward dishes that show off the best of Kentish produce. Every plate is underpinned by a thoughtful, eco-conscious approach: from sourcing directly from fishermen and growers, to running their own co-operative farm, and even tackling plastic across the supply chain. A comfy booth table here is hot property, if you miss out, just around the corner, you’ll find its littler sister, Dory’s: a relaxed seafood bar serving raw, pickled, cured, and baked fish and veggies, with views over Margate Main Sands and a curated wine shop featuring organic and low-intervention bottles.

Fifteen Square Metres, Broadstairs, Kent

As the name suggests, this Broadstairs gem really does live up to it with just 15m² of dining space, making every table feel like front-row seats to a culinary show. And what a show it is with Master Chef finalist Tony Rodd at the helm. Born from the space that once housed Michelin-starred Stark (more on them later), the new incarnation has impressive credentials all its own. Seasonal, gluten-free small plates arrive as they’re ready, designed for sharing and inspired by flavours from around the world – we’re talking tapas with a global passport. Expect veg, fish, and meat dishes in a constantly changing menu, paired with a thoughtfully curated wine list that spans the globe.

Maison, Farnham, Surrey

Step inside Maison and you’re not just going out to dinner – you’re stepping into someone’s home. Chef Ben (a former semi-finalist on Masterchef Professionals) and his wife Lornette have turned the ground floor of their 15th-century Wrecclesham House into a tiny, intimate restaurant with just five tables (including Ben’s Table in the kitchen). From the restored beams and original bread oven to the magical 8-course tasting menu (£100pp), everything here is about taking your time, sharing moments, and enjoying food that tells a story. Keep an eye out here for when the booking windows are open up and sharpen those elbows for the reservation bun fight.

Seasonality, Berkshire

Tiny tables, big flavours, and a focus on ingredients at their absolute peak – Seasonality is Berkshire’s neighbourhood micro-restaurant that’s stolen the spotlight. Owned by husband-and-wife duo Wesley and Francesca Smalley, this 10-table gem started as a shop selling restaurant-quality produce and dine-at-home boxes before blossoming into a full-blown restaurant. The menu is deliberately small, seasonal, and ever-changing. Relaxed, friendly, and impossibly inviting, Seasonality pairs thoughtful plates with a solid wine list, earning nods from The Guardian, the Michelin Guide, Best Neighbourhood Restaurant in the South East and us!

NORTH

Little Brickhouse, Nottingham

Starting life as a pop-up supper club, Little Brickhouse is now a cosy, family-run neighbourhood gem with home-dining vibes and small tapas-inspired plates made for sharing – although there might be a tussle for the last arancini with aioli! Natural wines flow freely, and it’s the place to be Tue – Sat each week. The Little Brick Supper clubs are still a hit, with a special Easter Brunch on the horizon.

Raymond’s, Nottingham

Nestled in the city’s historic Lace Market, this intimate spot has racked up Michelin and Good Food Guide nods in just over a year. The menu is deliberately tiny, but every dish packs a punch – apparently the fish crackling is a must. Sharing plates, sleek decor, moody lighting, cosy counter seating perfect for date night, and a wine list that’s as intriguing as it is generous by the glass – book us in now!

EAST

Stark, Mersea, Essex

Tiny tables, big flavours, and a Michelin Star that’s just as dazzling as the views – Stark is Mersea Island’s must-book spot, retaining the accolade it earned in Broadstairs for seven consecutive years. With around 20 covers, head chef Ben Crittenden works solo, turning top-notch, seasonal produce into cleverly refined six-course tasting menus (all for £100). Surprisingly relaxed for a Michelin-starred gem, Stark lets you arrive as you are, skip the indecision, settle into leather chairs at thick wooden tables, and simply enjoy plates that hit every note. Small, seasonal, and seriously impressive – this is fine dining without the fuss.

The Corkscrew, Norwich, Norfolk

A little slice of Italy in the heart of Norwich, The Corkscrew is cosy, rustic-chic, and seriously coveted. Michelin-starred Chef Patron Samuel Beggi serves a five-course tasting menu of small, seasonal dishes that marry Norfolk’s best local produce with Mediterranean flair – think foraged wild garlic, mushrooms, and herbs alongside Italian wines and crafty cocktails. The space itself is charmingly intimate, with wooden bistro tables, rustic crates, corks and branches adorning the ceiling, and décor that feels both natural and playful. With limited seating and a daily-changing menu, this is one of the city’s hottest tables.

SOUTH

Prawn on the Lawn, Padstow, Cornwall

Tiny tables, huge flavours, and seafood so fresh it practically swims to your plate – Prawn on the Lawn is Padstow’s 24-cover gem that’s been stealing hearts (and rave reviews) since 2015. Sister to Barnaby’s and The Little Prawn pop-up (re-opening Thu 2 April!), it’s all about good vibes, daily-changing small plates, and fish landed straight from local boats. Oysters, shellfish, or a big fish to share? Whatever your mood, it’s seafood done right in a space so intimate you’ll leave feeling like part of the crew. Book fast – these seats vanish almost as quickly as the catch of the day.

The Bere, Whitchurch, North Hampshire

Hampshire’s best-kept secret (well, almost) is The Bere – a supper-club-style micro-restaurant so exclusive that landing a table is basically a full-contact sport. Opening just once a week for dinner, with bookings released six months at a time, it sells out in 15 minutes flat. The Michelin-trained chef serves a completely surprise tasting menu built around local, seasonal, and organic produce – so expect the unexpected, even if you think you know your palate. Dinner kicks off at 7pm sharp with a glass of something sparkling and seasonal canapés, then it’s all about discovering new flavours in a cosy venue of just 16–20 covers. Optional wine pairings are available, but whatever you choose, this is intimate dining with a side of serious FOMO as apparently Glastonbury tickets are easier to get hold of than a table here.

AO by Daniel Rogan, Southampton

Foodie pedigree? Check. Tiny tables? Yep. Hometown hero vibes? Absolutely. Daniel Rogan, inspired by childhood visits to his father Simon Rogan’s three-Michelin-starred L’Enclume, trained under Marcus Wareing and Gordon Ramsay before putting Southampton firmly on the foodie map with AO. From a farm nearby Totton back to Southampton’s Oxford Street, AO is now a sleek, modern British fine-dining spot where word-of-mouth spreads faster than the amuse-bouches. Accolades? Plenty – Best Restaurant in the 2024 Muddy Awards, Michelin Guide nods, Staff Canteen recognition, and SquareMeal top 100. Limited seating (obv) and a menu that shows off Daniel’s clever, ingredient-driven cooking make AO one of Southampton’s most coveted tables.

Noel Corston, Devon

Perched in the heart of North Devon’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Noel Corston is a tiny culinary beacon with just eight seats and one 7 PM sitting. Guests dine around an open kitchen island, watching the team turn seasonal, locally inspired produce into a single, fixed tasting menu that changes with the environment. Intimate, immersive, and utterly brilliant – booking ahead is non-negotiable if you want a seat at this Devon gem.

RAGÙ, Bristol

Nestled in Bristol’s Whapping Wharf shipping-container hub, RAGÙ is a tiny Italian escape with a big reputation and the recent recipient of a Bib Gourmand. The rustic Italian dishes are designed to be shared, in a light bright airy dining space where the vibes are warm and welcoming. Whether you’re popping by for an aperitif, a family feast, or a slice of their infamous tiramisu, it’s all about quality ingredients, simply prepared and served with love. Small, friendly, and buzzing with charm, RAGÙ proves you don’t need a huge space to make a huge impression – walk-ins are welcome, but if you really want a seat, booking ahead is wise.

SCOTLAND

eleanore, Edinburgh

Eleanore is a family-run gem from the team behind The Little Chartroom and Ardfern. With just 20 covers, it’s small by design but packed with seasonal, beautifully executed dishes: think oysters with rhubarb ponzu, pork rillettes with kohlrabi and kale, hake with buttermilk sauce, and indulgent desserts like chocolate mousse or lemon posset. The recent recipient of a refurb, the decor is paired back, cosy, neighbourhood bistro vibes – and we want in!

Fallachan, Glasgow

If you know, you know – and if you don’t, good luck getting a table. Fallachan Kitchen is a 12-seat communal chef’s table that’s firmly in Glasgow’s “hot ticket” category (Michelin-recommended for 2026, no less). Expect hyper-local, seasonal menus that change with the landscape, served up in an intimate, shared setting where strangers quickly become dinner companions. Tiny, talked-about, and near-impossible to book – this is micro-dining at its most exclusive.

The Table, Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s tiniest theatre of flavour, The Table serves up seven-course tasting menus with zero fuss and all the wow. With just ten seats around a stunning stone counter in front of the open kitchen, you can watch each dish come to life, chat with the chefs, and savour a mix of Scottish-driven European cooking with playful international twists. Designed by Fiona Denholm, the elegant space feels both intimate and stylish, perfect for a night where the food is front and centre – and the company optional, or entirely new. One sitting per evening, so book early, these ten coveted spots disappear faster than haggis at Burns Night.

WALES

Gwen, Machynlleth

At just three metres wide, Gwen is tiny in footprint but huge on atmosphere. Tucked in the heart of Machynlleth’s high street, it hides a cosy bar up front before you slip behind a thick leather curtain into a single-room restaurant. With just eight seats around a shared table and a fully open kitchen, every dinner feels like being invited into someone’s home and is a perfect spot for making new friends, catching up with old ones, or simply getting lost in excellent food and specialist cocktails.
