<p>The wine, food and arts mag turned restaurant is all about pairing classic and quirky wines with its Franglais plates (put together by former <em>The Sportsman</em> exec Stephen Harris no less), so you might want to block out a decent chunk in your Outlook calendar. Head to its flagship eatery on Lamb&#8217;s Conduit Street (there&#8217;s now three Noble Rot restaurants in town) and get your laughing gear round its daily set lunch menu for a fraction of the cost of a la carte. It&#8217;s an easy-on-the-pocket £22 for two courses and £26 for three, so there should be plenty left in the bank to try some vino too. Available 12pm – 2.30pm daily.</p>

<p>This residency turned permanent fixture on the contemporary dining scene has got an awards roll call as long as your arm and chefs <em>looooove</em> the food here. Try the mushroom parfait with shiitake and grey oyster mushrooms from its own mushroom treehouse or the flamed mussels with bacon butter sauce, pickled lemon and parsley. There&#8217;s a broader range of options than many of the capital&#8217;s set menus with four or five dishes to choose from per course and simpler dishes like Fallow&#8217;s &#8216;Dairy cow burger&#8217;, so everyone&#8217;s happy. It&#8217;s £42 for three courses, and you can add sides like fries with kombu seasoning for £7 – and why not? Available Mon – Fri, 12pm – 3.30pm.</p>

<p>This Thai hotspot on Rupert Street channels late night Bangkok vibes in gorgeously garish surroundings (craving some crispy chicken skin and a Singha beer at midnight? This is your guy). The set menu offers a spread of six of its big hitter dishes including pickled mustard greens with Chinese sausage and Cellophane Noodles in Speedboat&#8217;s trademark Suki Sauce with Seafood. It&#8217;s available anytime but must be ordered by the whole table and costs £39pp.</p>

<p>A 20-cover restaurant plating up innovative Indian inspired small plates? No wonder it&#8217;s tough to get a booking. So hit the weekday set menu and you should be able to bag a much coveted table and a chance to try beauties like okra fries and saag with tandoori paneer. <p>Love chef Tom Seller&#8217;s Story restaurants? Then you&#8217;ve gotta get yourself down to his Mayfair eatery where it&#8217;s the stuff of foodie fables. Seasonal ingredients take top billing with dishes like tempura of winter vegetables and warm black vinegar are the star, or how about pappardelle of fallow venison ragù, red wine and pangrattato? It&#8217;s £39 for two courses and £45 for three. Available Mon – Sat, 12 – 3pm.</p>

<p>If you rate British foraged, wild and locally-grown food then you&#8217;ll rate this place. It helps of course that proprietors the Gladwin brothers own a gorgeous farm and sprawling vineyard in the rolling hills of Sussex. Tuck into the likes of Bosham marrow tempura, honey and garlic and English pecorino or Hackney burrata with confit tomatoes and almonds all for £22 for two courses or £25 for three – the proverbial bunny isn&#8217;t compulsory dining. Start with one of the in-house infused cocktails and sashay your way back down the King&#8217;s Road after lunch. Available Tue – Sat, 12pm – 3pm.</p>

<p>This handroll bar in Brixton Village has just a handful of seats so best to book to guarantee your spot. The set menus cost £24-£39 for 4-6 courses and all of the menus include the signature akami tuna dish as well as taking you out of your comfort zone &#8211; barbecued eel anyone? Supplement with snacks and small plates if you can&#8217;t resist some of the other dishes, like monkfish karaage, and  pair with a sake flight or one of the fine in-house cocktails &#8211; mine&#8217;s a sakura yuzu negroni. <p>Don&#8217;t expect a peaceful and intimate affair, this counter restaurant is very much influenced by the clattery, vibrant offerings of the cultures from which it draws its food &#8211; Jerusalem, southern Spain, Italy, and north Africa. Pull up a stool and feast on the fixed price weekday lunch menu for £24 for three courses or £28 for four. Try the labneh, tirshi, tahini butter and velvet tomatoes and round off with the pine nut tart with labneh mousse to finish. It&#8217;s available Mon – Fri, 12pm – 5.15pm so could just about work for pre-theatre dinner too.</p>

<p>This contemporary Spanish restaurant under the headship of Chef Dani García is a cool and sophisticated space which has its own take on the Spanish classics, such as its pulled oxtail brioche and creamy ham croquettes with tomato powder.&nbsp;The express weekday lunch is a chance to try the former alongside gambas fritas with spicy mayo, then caramelised rice pudding to finish. Just £30 for six courses or £25 if you take the veggie menu. Available Mon – Fri, 12pm –2.30pm.</p>

<p>If you like your classics then Theo Randall&#8217;s eponymous Italian at the InterContinental on Park Lane will be right up your strada. It&#8217;s limited to Tue – Thu, 5.30pm – 6:30pm, but if you can make that work, you&#8217;re in for treats like pappardelle with slow cooked beef ragu and Amalfi lemon tart to finish. Why not add a Negroni, Aperol Spritz or Prosecco for authenticity? It&#8217;s £40pp, or there&#8217;s a lunch menu at £28 for two courses, £33 for three, available Tue – Fri, 12pm –2pm.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s a bistro that&#8217;s the brainchild of Sommelier Ed Thaw so, as you can imagine, the wine list is somewhat ace. So too is the weekly changing set menu at two courses for £32 and three for £35. Tuck into tartiflette with pink fir potatoes, smoked bacon and Reblochon (who needs the Alps?) or wood-grilled pineapple with coconut cashews and chilli. It&#8217;s eclectic for sure. Available Tue – Fri, 12pm – 2.30pm.</p>

<p>Looking for some old school glam? Check out chef Iain Smith&#8217;s fancy British grill eatery. A la carte it&#8217;s a special night out kinda place but go for the fixed prices menu and you can enjoy his fab food for a mere £25 for two courses or £29 for three courses if you can&#8217;t resist the blood orange cheesecake with white chocolate biscuit crunch and dulce de leche ice cream<em>.</em> I mean. Available Mon –Sat, lunch and dinner.</p>
