New nail polish colours for Autumn
Ditch the neon brights and pretty pastels and get dark and daring for the change in season. Here are the brand new nail polishes we'll be picking up for our at-home mani.
A Weathered Penny, Umber
On-trend shades are kind of A Weathered Penny’s thang, so we’re hard-pushed to choose from their new Autumn Collection. After much deliberation, rich reddy-brown Umber makes it to the top of our list. Whichever you choose, the entire range is vegan, non-toxic and cruelty-free.
OPI, This Gold Sleighs Me
Chanel is famous for setting nail colour trends, and its newest Winter collection includes the glimmering Chaine d’Or gold shade. Luckily, we’ve found a much cheaper dupe that’s available in the UK – this glitzy metallic from OPI’s Holiday collection should do the trick nicely.
There’s nothing more satisfying than a polish that goes on opaque in one swipe, and Zoya’s creme formulas are excellent for this. Its new Luscious collection is full of deep, dark shades and rich metallics, but our money is on muted forest green Mel.
No 7, Damson Dream
Anyone else crack open a bottle of red as soon as autumn hits? Match your nails to your tipple with this rich, highly pigmented red/purple from Boots – you can always rely on No 7 for no-chip nails, plus it’s buy one get one half price on polishes.
Barry M, Crushed Ribbon
The new Velvet Matte Nail Paint collection from Barry M is one you’ll have to try to understand. The polishes look shimmery and pearlescent in the bottle but they dry down (as the name suggests) to a flattering luminous matte finish. At £3.99 a pop they’re cheap enough to pick up all six muted shades, but our favourite is wear-with-everything neutral Crushed Ribbon.
Like little black dresses or white shirts, a girl can never own too many red nail polishes – which is why this delicious warm-toned shade from Nailberry’s Gifts of Prosperity collection immediately caught our beady eye. The four new shades are meant to represent a hope for ‘healthier, happier times’. Not sure about that, but if it helps, we’ll take two bottles.
