5 reasons to binge-watch Yellowstone now
Yee-ha! Kevin Costner’s ranch drama is the most-watched U.S. TV show ever. Here’s why you should saddle up to stream Series 1-3 on Paramount+ ready for Series 4 dropping 17 Aug.
1/ We need to talk about Kevin

Be still our beating hearts because The Bodyguard himself is back in town, and he’s wearing a Stetson! Kevin Costner stars in Yellowstone as Montana cattle ranch owner John Dutton, the brooding yet determined patriarch of a feuding family battling to save their land from the clutches of corporate developers. An antihero who will stop at nothing to save what’s rightfully his, this is vintage Costner and like a fine wine, he just gets better with age. We haven’t been this giddy about a cowboy since Brokeback.
2/ Montana wanderlust, incoming

Such scenes! And we’re not talking about Costner’s co-star Cole Hauser (who plays Rip Wheeler) in his chaps, though that certainly helps. No, we mean Montana’s epic rolling countryside. Prepare to add the breathtakingly endless mid-western plains to your travel wish list, or at the very least make it your screensaver. From the glistening lakes to the rugged mountains, we can already see ourselves riding off into the sunset. Sidesaddle, obvs.
3/ Fill the Succession-shaped void

Yep, we’re calling it, Kelly Reilly’s turn as Beth Dutton (John’s feisty daughter) could give Shiv Roy a run for her money in the battle for TV’s boldest, most fearless (and dizzyingly ruthless) female lead. The Dutton dynasty is utterly compelling – just try tearing your eyes away from the action and tussles – in a vibe we’re calling Dallas-meets-Succession, with marginally less rhinestones. I mean, what’s not to love?
4/ Meet the world’s hottest scriptwriter

Taylor Sheridan: know this name. The Academy Award and BAFTA-nominated writer, producer and actor (you might recognise him from Sons of Anarchy) is the brains behind Yellowstone and his career is currently skyrocketing faster than a spooked horse bolting from the paddock. Having the biggest show on American TV can do that for a guy. Those explosive exchanges between the Dutton clan? The epic fight scenes on the ranch? We’ve got Sheridan to thank for those. Season 4, we’re coming for you!
5/ It’s relatable (even if you don’t own a Stetson)

Sure, we may not all own a sprawling ranch with a paddock of livestock to tame but Yellowstone’s core themes around family, greed and having a small corner of this earth to call your own are oddly relatable. I mean, who hasn’t felt wobbly at the prospect of a new-build popping up in the field opposite, or wanted to yell “get off my land!” in a Peggy Mitchell rasp when somebody parks their car a little to close to your driveway. We hear ya Yellowstone.
