Alexa’s got a new, hunky look

Alexa, take off your shirt. Oops! I meant: Alexa, remind me to iron the kids’ shirts. Ahem. If you haven’t seen Amazon’s new ad, you might be a little bemused as to why a ‘virtual assistant’ is getting us hot under the collar (the last time that happened was our girl crush on Scarlett Johansson as the sexy ‘computer’ in Her).
But just wait until you watch Michael B. Jordan bare all – well, a fair bit – in one of those big budget Super Bowl ads.
Picture this: you’re in a candlelit bubble bath, listening to a romantic audiobook, and it’s being softly read out to you by Michael B. Jordan… from the other end of the bath. Yup, we’ll take one. It comes IRL, right?
With close to 100 million viewers, the Super Bowl is massive for advertisers in the States, with buckets of money being thrown at the campaigns. Michael B. Jordan as hunky Alexa is just one of the star-studded ads due to air this year on big game day. The neon-orange crisp brand Cheetos has called in Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, and Shaggy for their slightly cringey contribution, while Doritos has a Flat Stanley’d Matthew McConaughey saved only by eating a new Doritos 3D crisp. Squarespace even got Dolly Parton to re-record ‘9-5’ as ‘5-9’, to promote all the things you can achieve in your free time.
But our favourite, obviously, has to be the hunky Alexa. It got us thinking who we’d choose to read us our audiobook in the bath, or tell us how many grams of flour in a cup… George Clooney, Rufus Sewell, Patrick Dempsey, Rége-Jean Page. Oh the possibilities.
